Discover the delicate elegance of porcelain brought to life through the refined artistry of washi-zome — a traditional Japanese paper-dyeing technique reimagined in ceramic form.
This artist’s signature lies in her masterful application of intricate patterns using hand-cut washi paper and mineral pigments, most notably gosu (a deep cobalt blue). Each motif is carefully crafted by placing tiny washi fragments—so fine they must be arranged with tweezers—onto the bisque-fired surface. As pigment seeps through the washi, it stains the porcelain beneath, capturing both softness and precision in every brushstroke.
Her porcelain is not merely a canvas, but a creation in itself. By blending porcelain base materials with her own unique clay formula, she achieves a body that is exceptionally responsive on the wheel—allowing for forms that are both graceful and tactile.
The result is a body of work that feels at once timeless and contemporary—each piece a rare fusion of tradition, innovation, and serene beauty. Owning one is not just acquiring a vessel, but welcoming a fragment of a quiet, intricate world into your everyday life.
