Round plate — The Ban Series
With its gentle curvature from rim to base, this round plate exemplifies understated elegance, resting gracefully on the table. Crafted in Tokoname, a region steeped in ceramic tradition, it is adorned with a soft matte finish and delicately scattered oyster shell powder—a distinctive detail drawn from the sea that surrounds its place of origin.
Each piece reveals a singular character, shaped by the hands of the artisan and the natural variability of the materials. The surface, at once refined and organic, offers a quiet presence that enhances both everyday meals and special occasions.
Formed through a slip-casting process, where liquid clay is poured into molds and dried slowly, the plate embraces subtle irregularities as part of its design—traces of the clay’s own rhythm and movement.
