Washizome Teapot / Gradation of Indigo and Moss
A quiet landscape held in the palm of your hand.
From a deep, clear indigo to a moist, subdued green—the shifting colors of this teapot evoke the stillness of a forest floor. Crafted from fine porcelain and decorated using the traditional Washizome (Japanese paper dyeing) technique, this piece transcends its role as a mere utensil to become a small work of art.
Washizome is a meticulous process where absorbent washi paper is cut into shapes, placed onto the bisque-fired body, and infused with pigment. As the dye seeps through the fibers of the paper, it creates soft, blurred boundaries and a depth of color that feels organic and alive. The rhythmic vertical dots add a touch of modern discipline to the ethereal backdrop.
The Harmony of Function and Form
With a capacity of approximately 190ml, this teapot is perfectly sized for a solitary moment of reflection or for sharing a refined cup of tea with a close guest.
Every detail—from the clean pour of the spout to the ergonomic angle of the handle—is designed to make the ritual of tea-making feel effortless and graceful. Inside, the ceramic strainer is meticulously hand-pierced by the artist, one hole at a time. This artisanal touch allows the tea leaves to bloom fully, ensuring you can savor every last drop without compromising the delicate flavor.
Escape the bustle of daily life and find peace in the sound of pouring hot water. We invite you to enjoy a slow, mindful tea time with this exquisite companion.
